Naively sky, fragrant day — Volunteers make clubs in Xingcai Primary School

Club, it means a lot of people get together for the same interest. They are all interested in something. At the beginning, they are strangers. Then they come to the club. They meet each other. They make friends. They talk and do what they all like. People come to club for various reasons. Maybe he wants to get deeper in that he likes. Maybe he wants to make more friends with which have same hobby. And maybe he joins just for fun. No matter what the motive is, the club can make people happy and enjoy life indeed.

Xingcai Primary School is a school for migrant workers’ children. What are migrant workers? They are one kind of rovers and some of them take their family together. They are one kind of the most laborious people in the city. They do a great number of contributions to the urban construction, nevertheless, there is no guarantee for them and their families, especially, the children. They rove with their parents and have no stable life and education. It is sad for them.

Therefore, YID cooperates with Xingcai Primary School to blend club and the happiness into those children’s life.

There are nine clubs in total involving singing, dancing, art, sport and English. We prepare the content for the club with heart and we try our best to make it plentiful and interesting. Every Friday afternoon, we go to the Xingcai Primary school to be with the children. We do not go to teach students. We just go to make friends with the children and do what they like together. We hope we can bring them happiness and make them enjoy their hobbies, enjoy their life.

Penny, who is one of my teammates, and I are in charge of art club. There are two classes about 80 children in the art club. We consider the situation of children that they don’t know many about the world. We’d like to widen their eyesight. We want to show something to them and let them know the world is huge, the world is wonderful. So we plan to introduce different countries pre week to the children. We want to show something special in other countries to them.

The first time, we prepared Egypt for them. We made a PPT. It was full of beautiful pictures of Egypt, the pyramid, the Pharoah and the Sphinx. We explained to them what those pictures are. All of them were exciting. Then we taught them how to make a little pyramid on a piece of paper with flour dough which we prepared before. They all did a very good and creative job.

After this activity, I have many mixed feelings. The children’s eyes are very clean and pure. It seems like there is a light from their eyes and it can shine into your heart. When they said “hello, teacher”, my eyes moistened. I have felt responsibility. This group of children is special. They are more sensitive and more afraid of the world than others. If you smile to them, praise them, they will feel happy and warm. They desire more attention. When the class is over, each of they came to my front and say goodbye to me. At that moment, I realized happiness.
